I am a fully qualified and professional Equine Bowen therapist since January 2011 servicing the Bay of Plenty.
Bowen is a soft tissue therapy that works primarily on the fascia in the body. A Bowen session will treat the entire body, not just a specific area which will assist in bringing the entire body and its systems back into balance. The majority of horses respond well to Bowen as it is a very gentle yet effective treatment. Bowen can help with an array of issues that may present. The majority of horses respond well after treatments, occasionally with more severe issues a horse may temporarily worsen. We have to remember however long it took to get to where the horse currently is, the more it will take time to restore them back to balance.
I am constantly looking to continue my education, skills and knowledge of the Equine body as well as the human one, is a truly amazing thing. So over the years I have also studied and practised different methods of bodywork including Equine Musculoskeletal Unwinding, Reiki, Masterson Method, Flinchlock Release, Acupressure, Stretching and simple Chiropractic muscular releases. Whilst the bulk of my treatment is Bowen, each horse is an individual and my varied skills allows me to adapt to each horse and its specific needs and integrate different modalities into a treatment session.
I believe the training I do along with a balanced hoof trim and diet play an intrinsic part in Body work. Bowen works particularly well alongside Chiropractic care. To keep a horse soft, supple and balanced is a holistic approach.
